Equity

Coos Health & Wellness recognizes that many community members experience challenges to their overall well-being, such as access to healthcare, economic stability, education, and/or the environments where they live, work, and play.

When these conditions occur unevenly, it can be considered a health inequity that can lead to persistent poor health outcomes in certain populations.

To address these health inequities, we pledge to:

• Address historical and systemic barriers that contribute to these health inequities, and establish an environment of trust. Our goal is that all individuals feel comfortable seeking support, resources, and care from our public health department.
• Engage with community members to ensure that their voices are heard and their perspectives shape future initiatives.
• Actively seek feedback, learn from our past mistakes, and continuously improve our approaches to better meet the unique needs of those we serve.
