COVID-19 Updates for Today
- Today is the day when we announce the first COVID-19 case in Coos County. At the time of positive COVID-19 diagnostic, the individual in question was incarcerated at Shutter Creek Correctional Institution. The adult in custody has since been transported to another facility in the State of Oregon. The Public Health team at Coos Health & Wellness is currently working diligently and in full cooperation with Shutter Creek to ensure thorough contact tracing and investigation related to that case.
- In addition to this one positive case, Coos County Public Health knows of 332 COVID-19 tests that have been administered to county residents. 21 of these tests are pending results and 310 are negative.
- Oregon Health Authority has reported 1,371 positive cases of COVID-19 (51 new cases) in Oregon, as well as 48 deaths (4 new death) to date. We are aware of the discrepancy regarding the case identified yesterday in Shutter Creek and what is reflected onto the OHA website.
- As of April 10th 2020, the CDC reported 459,165 total cases (31,705 new cases) and 16,570 total deaths (1,874 new deaths) in the United States.
- As of April 10th, the World Health Organization reported 1,521,252 confirmed cases (85,054 new cases) and 92,798 deaths (7,277 new deaths).
- New Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) comes into effect on April 1st requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. These provisions will apply from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.
