Since January 2015 individuals with OHP and a diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria have health benefits covering both hormone and surgery treatments. Evidence shows high rates of suicide, and depression in individuals with gender dysphoria. Medical treatments have shown good results in improving the lives of transgendered individuals. Medical treatments, however, are not without risks especially for those with other mental health conditions as well as youth.
The treatment of gender dysphoria requires a close work between behavioral and medical providers. CHW follows the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines.
