Case management services may be available to individuals with more severe types of mental illness. Case management services are provided mostly outside of the provider’s office, in people’s homes, schools, work settings and others in order to help individuals complete their necessary daily actions in order to manage their lives.
These services typically consist of skills training, behavioral counseling, medication training and the recruiting of other necessary resources including personal care services, supportive housing, supportive employment, representative payees, peer supports, and others in order to assist the individual in attaining their goals.
Case management services can be provided 1-2 times per month but may involve up to daily contact from different case managers and other supports. Given the ongoing nature of these illnesses Case Management services are often provided on a long term basis.
